Further information on IQ's five Mathematics Functional Skills qualifications.

The IQ Mathematics Functional Skills suite consists of five qualifications, allowing us to cater to all levels of learner ability and providing a Functional Skills solution for everyone. These are:

(Click on any of the above qualification titles to access detailed information such as the specifications).

The Entry Level qualifications are each assessed through a one and a half hour paper, which is taken under controlled assessment conditions and internally marked by centres. In the case of the Entry Level 1 & 2, the assessor is permitted to interact directly with the learner during the assessment.

Unlike the three Entry Level qualifications, however, the Level 1 and 2 are externally assessed, either through traditional, paper based assessments or with the option to use our innovative on screen assessment platform. The assessment takes the form of a two hour exam and must be delivered under examination conditions.

With a key focus on making maths work-related and relevant to the everyday tasks candidates face, we have produced a range of assessment papers, so that centres can match the most appropriate paper to their learners. All of our maths questions revolve around everyday tasks, such as working out which train you need to catch to attend a meeting on time, buying lunch whilst on a budget or simply counting supplies / stock levels (something that can be contextualised to fit the candidate’s working environment).
